In 1867 Chief Q. Parker became Chief of the
Comanches. He was never
captured by the Army, but decided to surrender, and lead his tribe
into the white man's culture when he saw that there was no alternative.
He was very successful in working with white culture and using the
American cultures to help his people. He was the son of Comanche Chief
Peta Nocone and Cynthia Ann Parker, a survivor of a massacre. He
was buried next to his mother at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.
