Ten Bears was
never active as a great warrior, he was still held in high esteem
by the tribe who chose him to be their delegate in many peace conferences
with the Whites. He died in 1873 at Fort Sill, after returning to
the reservation disappointed with all the unkept promises of the
peace treaties.
